Day 21 Juneau (Alaska)

17th May

Our first view if Alaska on the inside passage.

Above are a couple of photos taken as we sailed to Juneau the capital of Alaska.

Our ship was berthed close to the Mount Roberts tramway terminal.

While we were docked the crew had a lifeboat drill.

Day 22 Hubbard Glacier (Alaska)

18th May

A very overcast day. This ship was leaving Hubbard Glacier as we arrived.

Day 23 Sitka (Alaska)

19th May

In the middle of this photo is a Bald Eagle on top of a tree.

Here it is.

A bit of a cloudy day in Sitka. A few photos taken around town.

As you can see from these pictures the ship docked out of town and we had to be bused into Sitka.

Day 24 Ketchican (Alaska)

20th May

Here we are in Ketchican.

This is Cook street. An arts and craft shopping area built out over the water.

Houses built on the side of the mountains.

And how some reach them.

We were moored right in town.

Underneath the snow capped moutains.

The three photos above are of Dave Rubin's bronze monument "The Rock". It features 7 life-size figures from Ketchikan's past: Chief Johnson, a logger, a fisherman, a miner, an aviator, a Native woman drumming, and an elegant lady in her 1890s finery.

Day 25 Victoria (Canada)

21th May

After dinner on our last night we went for a walk and found Fisherman's Wharf.

On returning I took this photo of the ship illuminated by the setting sun.

Day 26 Seattle (USA)/Vancouver (Canada)

22nd May

Debarkation day Seattle.

Back in Canada again. This is the hotel Georgia where we stayed with Chris when we took him to England.

Day 1 Rocky Mountaineer (Canada)

23rd May

In the waiting room for the Rocky Mountaineer.

Day 2 Rocky Mountaineer (Canada)

24th May

Kamloops ground crew waving us off.

Breakfast.

On the second day I found this viewing vestibule.

At Kamloops the train was split. Some going to Jasper and ourselves going to Banff. We are now in the middle of the train.

The arrow is pointing to a bear I saw. We were past it before I could photograph it.

The weather changed as we climbed into the Rockies. The weather took the train crew by surprise. It was not like this the week before.
